How to start and stop using the service

Please apply to the Waterworks Division by phone or fax at least one business day in advance.
Reception hours: 8:30am - 5:15pm (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays)

Water meter reading

A meter reader will come to read your meter once every two months, at the beginning of the month (around the 1st to 10th).

How to pay water bills, etc

Bills must be paid by the last day of the month in which the meter is read, which is once every two months. Payment methods include 1) direct debit or 2) payment by bill.

Account transfer

Applications can be made at financial institutions in the city or at the Waterworks Customer Service Desk of the City Hall Waterworks Division. When applying, please bring your delivery seal and an item showing your waterworks number (such as a meter reading slip).

Delivery notice

A payment notice will be sent around the 20th of the month in which the meter was read. Payments can be made at financial institutions, convenience stores, smartphone payment apps, the customer service desk of the Waterworks Division of City Hall, or at a branch office.

 Garbage

Depending on where you live, there are designated days for putting out each type of garbage. Garbage will not be collected unless it is sorted in the correct way, on the designated days, and put out by 8am. In addition, if there are rules established by your neighborhood association, condominium management association, etc. (such as writing your group or unit number on garbage bags), please follow these as well. For detailed instructions on how to separate and dispose of garbage, please refer to the foreign language versions of the "Quick Guide to Separating and Disposing of Household Garbage and Resources" and "Garbage Calendar."

 Municipal Housing

Public housing is provided at low rent to low-income people who are in housing difficulty.

Eligibility

  • Have an address or place of work within Anjo City.
  • For foreign nationals, the period of stay must be one year or more.
  • There are relatives who currently live together or intend to live together (including a partnership arrangement).
  • It is clear that the person is currently in housing difficulty.
  • Meet the income criteria.
  • You are not in arrears with any municipal(city or town) taxes.
  • Not being a member of a criminal organization.
  • A person who can provide one guarantor or who has entered into a guarantee contract with a designated rent guarantee company.

 Neighborhood association

Neighborhood associations (local government associations) are organizations made up of local residents, and as a place for mutual assistance and friendship within the local community, they carry out activities such as crime prevention and community welfare activities, neighborhood cleanups, and recreation. Neighborhood associations also provide announcements from the city hall and the local area, information useful for daily life, and conduct disaster prevention drills in preparation for the occurrence of a disaster.
In order to live a safe and comfortable life, it is very important to join a neighborhood association. The procedure for joining is carried out by each neighborhood association. If you do not know the contact information for your neighborhood association, please contact us.

 Public transport

Public transportation within Anjo City includes trains (JR Tokaido Shinkansen, JR Tokaido Main Line, Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line, Meitetsu Nishio Line), buses (Meitetsu Bus, Ankuru Bus), and taxis.

Ankuru Bus

The Ankuru bus operates as a means of transportation to major facilities and the central city area of the city.

Fare

  • Adults and children: 100 yen per ride
    *Preschool children are free
  • A one-month pass is sold on board the Ankuru bus for 1,000 yen.

Days when the bus is out of service

The service will be suspended for five days from December 30th to January 3rd of the following year.

Free ride system

There is a free ride system for Anjo residents listed below. For details, please contact the relevant department.

  • People aged 75 or older (Elderly Welfare Division: 0566-71-2223)
  • People with a physical disability certificate, a rehabilitation certificate, or a mental health and welfare certificate (Disability Welfare Division: 0566-71-2225)

 Pets /Animals

Dog registration

Dogs are required to be registered once in their lifetime. Once registered, you will be issued a registration tag. The tag must be attached to the dog's collar.
Registration fee: 3,000 yen per dog

Rabies vaccination

All dogs over 91 days old are required to have a rabies vaccination once a year.
For dogs already registered in Anjo City, we will send out information postcards in early April.

Pet Cremation

If your pet dog or cat has died and you wish to have it cremated, please place the body in a plastic bag or cardboard box and bring it to the General Funeral Home. There is no need to make a reservation, and since this is a communal funeral, you will not be able to take the cremated remains home with you.

 Rules for consumers

Pedestrian rules

  • Where there is no sidewalk, walk on the right side of the road.
  • When crossing a road without traffic lights, use the crosswalk. When crossing a road with traffic lights, stop and obey the lights.

Rules for riding a bicycle

  • When you ride a bicycle, you ride on the road.
    Riding on the sidewalk is a special rule.
  • When using the road, keep to the left side of the road.
  • On sidewalks, pedestrians have the right of way, so ride on the side closest to the road.
  • When there are traffic lights, you must stop and follow the signals. You must also follow all road signs.
  • Do not drink alcohol, ride with someone else, or ride at night without lights on.
  • Do not ride alongside other cyclists.
  • At intersections, stop and obey the traffic lights.
  • Everyone who rides a bicycle should make an effort to wear a helmet.
  • Parents should make an effort to have their children wear helmets.
  • Do not ride a bicycle while holding an umbrella or using a mobile phone.
  • Bicycle riders are required to take out bicycle liability insurance.

Rules for riding in a car

  • You must not drink alcohol and drive a car.
  • When riding in a car, all seats, including the driver's seat, passenger seat, and back seat occupants must wear seat belts.
  • When carrying children between 0 and 5 years old, you must use a child seat.
  • You must not use a mobile phone while driving a car.

In Japan, parking on the street is generally prohibited.
When parking your car, make sure it is a place where you can park your car before doing so.

House rules

  • You must follow the rules for disposing of garbage in your area.
  • Do not pour garbage or oil down the drain in the kitchen.
  • You must be careful to avoid making loud noises on a daily basis, such as from the television, musical instruments, or loud conversations, especially at night or early in the morning.
  • Balconies in apartment buildings are often used as emergency escape routes, so care must be taken not to leave any objects on them.

No smoking areas

Smoking on the streets in crowded places is a very dangerous act, as it can have a negative impact on health from passive smoking and cause burns to children.
In Anjo City, smoking on the streets is prohibited in the areas around the rotary at JR Anjo Station, Mikawa Anjo Station (Shinkansen and conventional lines), and Meitetsu Shin-Anjo Station, designated as no-smoking zones.
