Disaster

Earthquakes

Japan is a country prone to earthquakes, so it's important to be prepared.

Usual measures

  • Stockpile at least three days' worth (ideally about a week's worth) of water, food, portable toilets, etc.
  • To ensure that your family can act without panicking, it's a good idea to discuss and decide on things like how to contact each other in an emergency, where to meet, and each person's roles.
  • Take measures to prevent furniture from tipping over or falling.
  • Prepare emergency supplies such as a radio, flashlight, and clothing.
  • Please check the "Anjo City Earthquake Hazard Map" in advance to find out where evacuation locations are, and check with your own eyes the evacuation routes, etc.
  • It is important to stay connected with your local community on a regular basis when it comes to rescue and evacuation in the event of a disaster. By participating in events held mainly by neighborhood associations and voluntary disaster prevention organizations, you can learn about your local area and disaster prevention efforts. Be sure to actively participate in local events and disaster prevention drills.

Typhoons and floods

Typhoons are more likely to approach Japan from summer to autumn.
If a typhoon is approaching, pay close attention to information on television and radio, and avoid traveling, mountain climbing, fishing, swimming in the sea, etc.

Disaster prevention

Talk about disaster prevention at work and with your colleagues.
In the event of a major disaster such as an earthquake or typhoon, please evacuate to evacuation sites or shelters set up throughout the city as needed. 184 evacuation sites have been designated, including parks and sports grounds, and 62 evacuation shelters have been designated, including city community centers, elementary and junior high schools. In the event of a disaster, disaster information for Anjo City will be provided via the city's official disaster prevention app, "Anjo Disaster Prevention Navi." Please listen to FM radio Pitch FM (83.8 MHz), which broadcasts information about the area.
In addition, each neighborhood association organizes and operates a voluntary disaster prevention organization. Disaster prevention drills include safety confirmation drills and firefighting drills, and local residents meet face-to-face to conduct these drills. They also organize disaster prevention warehouses and emergency food supplies to prepare for disasters such as earthquakes. In order to prepare for the Nankai Trough earthquake, which is said to have an 80% chance of occurring within the next 30 years, let's actively participate in the activities of voluntary disaster prevention organizations with a mindset of "helping each other."

City's official disaster prevention app "Anjo Disaster Prevention Navi"
